Parents and guardians are a fundamental pillar of students’ learning. In order to ensure a coordinated effort between families and schools, our community has a Parent Council. Founded in 1959, it has bylaws and is represented by its Board of Directors. To promote communication and streamline decision-making, the school’s principals and directors hold meetings with their representatives based on the topic to be discussed. These meetings take place during the school day. These meetings consolidate working criteria and coordinate the development of the various activities that are or will be carried out throughout the year.
Every year, a calendar of activities is developed that is related to the children’s curricular and/or socio-emotional goals or areas of interest. Some of the most iconic activities include “Night with Art,” Sunset Fest, the SG Family Fest (kermesse), “Shop my Closet,” management of the stadium kiosk, and talks for parents. Among the objectives of these activities are the possibility of raising funds to help families facing temporary or permanent financial difficulties and organizing other events for the community.
The Parent Council is a fundamental ally in building community and developing a sense of identity and belonging.
